La Hulpe 187
Watermael-Boitsfort
The “La Hulpe building” is a fine example of 1970s Brussels architecture.
On the edge of the Sonian forest, the green environment is reflected in the orange glazing that characterizes the building.
Generali, aware that we are at the cusp of a (r)evolution in the field of office buildings and, that flexibility and services are the keys to survival, called on GAP to define a service strategy to be implemented.
We therefore proposed to renovate the common areas of the building to give them a new dynamism. As the basement of the building was unoccupied, we proposed to accommodate a restaurant and a fitness area. The project was a success that won the approval of the occupants.
In terms of architectural language, we started with the existing building whose shape is generated by the reiteration of two elements, orange glazing and architectural concrete. For our project we chose the wood slat as a simple element to reiterate to create more complex shapes. We also used this element to make the common areas of the building identifiable.
