The project is a creation of ncbham to which Gianluca Di Fabio collaborated as a partner. Dam Sum owner Damien Toulouse approached ncbham with the aim of creating the first Dim Sum restaurant in Brussels. The identity of the space and the look & feel had to be authentic but not traditional. We introduced the Asian universe and its complex minimalism while incorporating historical Chinese influences.
The colour red is a strong symbol of good fortune and joy in China, while the newspapers on the walls, suspended canopies, and colourful lights convey the sentiment of popular Chinese street food. The look & feel exposes bright colours and materials with a sustained contrast, suggesting a nocturnal and urban setting.
