The challenge for the renovation of this old house in Uccle was extreme. Transform it into a very contemporary space while maintaining the distinctive signs of the old building.
After the works, what is visible from the street is only the tip of the iceberg. In fact, we have created an additional level of more than 500m², perfectly integrated into the slope of the land, containing an office, bedrooms, a library, sanitary facilities, and an indoor swimming pool.
The swimming pool is the centrepiece of the renovation. The excavated section of the tank is symbolically carried up to the roof, where it takes the form of a rectangular prism made entirely of glass, allowing light to flood into what would otherwise be a dark space.
The relationship with the surrounding natural environment was a key factor in the decisions made. The very large floor-to-ceiling windows and the glass roof thus allow the interior and exterior to blend seamlessly in a sumptuous setting.
