The challenge for the renovation of this old house in Uccle was extreme. Transform it into a very contemporary space while maintaining the distinctive signs of the old building.
After the works, what is visible from the street is only the tip of the iceberg. In fact, we have created an additional level of more than 500m², perfectly integrated into the slope of the land, containing an office, bedrooms, a library, sanitary facilities, and an indoor swimming pool.
The swimming pool is the centrepiece of the renovation. The excavated part of the tank is symbolically carried on the roof where it is embodied by a parallelepiped entirely made of glass and which allows light to flood the otherwise dark space. The relationship with the surrounding nature was a fundamental element in the choices made. Very large windows and the glass roof allow to merge the interior and the exterior in a sumptuous setting.
